Welcome to UTS: Midwifery

Clinical placements are an exciting time where students get to put theory into practice and develop their practical skills within healthcare workplaces. Clinical placements should be an enjoyable learning experience with Bachelor of Midwifery students requiring a minimum of 1216 hours of clinical hours and 10 continuity of Midwifery Care to become registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Midwifery students will be assigned a home hospital within their first year of placement; while students will complete the majority of their hours across their degree within this hospital they will also have the opportunity to undertake a rural and remote placement in their 3rd year. MyPlacement assists in preparing and assigning students to all their placements. The UTS: Midwifery site is specific to students studying in either of the below degrees;

·         Bachelor of Midwifery (C10225)

·         Bachelor of Midwifery/ Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation (C10329)

·         Graduate Diploma in Midwifery (C07070)

If you have any questions about preparing for your placement, and what to expect once on placement, take a look at our Clinical Placement Website. It covers everything from vaccinations to uniform and dress standards.

The Clinical Practice Unit (CPU) is available to assist with any enquiries you may have relating to clinical placements. The CPU is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm.
